STS-119

We drove up to Patrick Airforce Base to see the the Space Shuttle Discovery(STS-119) launch. The launch was at a perfect time, just as the sun went down, the light hit the plumes of smoke and they changed all sorts of crazy shades of purple and pink. I took these with my iPhone so they are not the greatest quality.
Watchmen
by nick on Mar.08, 2009, under movies
I went and saw watchmen the other night, I went in with high expectations from fans of the graphic novel and all the media hype. When i went to the theater i got ID’d 2 times before i had a chance to sit down, Im guessing because of the massive amount of sex to strange songs and the rediculous action shots of elbows getting snaped in half with blood spewing out…
I’m thinking i should of read the Graphic Novel first before seeing it. I was pretty much lost for the first quater of it, but they did a pretty good job of explaining the back story. (The intro credits scene was brilliant by the way, one of the best i have ever seen) It was also on the long side of things ( about 2 hrs 45 min). When i left the theater I didn’t know what to think, The movie was very well done and the acting was great. But there was somthing that bothered me. After thinking about it for a bit, i realised it was the actual story. I didn’t get the immersion that i have come to expect from the past action/super hero movies (Iron Man,Dark Knight,V for Vendetta). If i find the time i’ll sit down and read the book and see if that makes it better for me.
